2011 BGSG Converse Classic Dates Announced
Second Annual Boy’s Middle School Basketball Tournament to be Held in Frankfort

LEXINGTON – The Bluegrass Sports Commission (BSC), along with the Frankfort Convention Center and Lexington-based iHigh, Inc., today announced that the 2011 Converse Kentucky Classic Boy’s Middle School Basketball Tournament will be held December 16-18, 2011, at the Frankfort Convention Center.

“We are excited to once again provide these young men an opportunity to play in a terrific facility and compete for Bluegrass State Games medals,” said Executive Director Terry Johnson. “Last year’s event was a good start for us, but we look to grow the teams and stature of the event even more in 2011.”

iHigh, Inc. will provide game management and marketing assistance and iHigh.com will broadcast all games live on the web at www.kyclassic.ihigh.com.
The double-elimination tournament will take place in the 5,000-seat Frankfort Civic Center, which is owned and operated by the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet of State government. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, with the top three finishers receiving a team trophy, as well as individual medals.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Bluegrass State Games on this event again,” said Rob Minerich, Executive Director of the Frankfort Convention Center. “The Commonwealth has supported the Bluegrass State Games since their inception and we are pleased to host this event for our young people.”

Dates and sites for the 2011 Girls Middle School Basketball tournament are still being finalized and will be announced in the coming weeks.
