Subway Renews as Presenting Sponsor
The Bluegrass Sports Commission today announced that Subway Restaurants has renewed their agreement to be the presenting sponsor of the Bluegrass State Games, the signature event of the Commission, for two more years. The agreement, which covers the 2012 and 2013 events, ensures that the very popular restaurant will be the presenting sponsor for a minimum of five years, having initially signed on in 2009.
“Subway restaurants is excited to renew our sponsorship of the Bluegrass State Games,” stated Sharon Pfister of the Asher Agency, which represents Subway owner/operators in Kentucky. “The core mission of the Games – promoting healthy and active lifestyles by providing fun, family-oriented sports competitions – is very much in line with Subway’s mission to provide fresh, healthy eating choices to all Kentuckians.”
As part of the agreement, Subway will continue to provide food for volunteers, marketing and promotional activities, as well as in-store displays and registration information as part of its support.
“This event has provided generations of Kentuckians the opportunity to get out, be active and enjoy themselves,” stated Terry Johnson, Executive Director of the Bluegrass Sports Commission. “Our partnership with Subway is a big part of the reason we can continue to provide a quality event nearly 30 years after it was started.”
Heading into its 28th year, the Bluegrass State Games, presented by Subway, is the nation’s largest (16,325 in 2011) and longest-running (27 years) State Games. The estimated economic impact of the event to central Kentucky is $6.2 million annually.
