• Spinnaker: Any boat regardless of handicap that flies a spinnaker.
The purpose of the Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) is to enable sail boats of different design to compete on an equal basis. Base PHRF Ratings used are the “Average Handicap” as designated by the U.S. Sailing Association on their web site offshore.ussailing.org/PHRF.htm. The handicap will be applied on a time over time method.
